The parts we source are the hardest to trust.
Here's how we handle that.
Obsolete and hard-to-find components travel through longer supply chains than authorised distribution. That's where counterfeit risk lives. Emporra mitigates it through three layers: a vetted supplier network, inspection before shipment, and full documentation.
Vetted supplier network
Every source is assessed before we place business with them. We turn away more suppliers than we onboard.
Inspection at source
Every shipment is inspected at source to IDEA-STD-1010-B or SAE AS6171. X-ray, electrical and destructive testing are available on request.
Documented before it ships
Every shipment arrives with a written inspection report, Certificate of Conformance and traceability. Parts that fail inspection are not shipped.
Who we let into the network.
We source through a vetted global supplier network specialising in obsolete and allocation- constrained parts. Before we place a single order with a new supplier, they're assessed against the criteria on the right. Poor performance on a batch is enough to end the relationship.
- Business registration and verifiable trading history
- References from prior industrial or defence-grade buyers
- Documented incoming and outgoing inspection process
- ESD-controlled handling and storage
- Sanctions and export-control screening
- Prior batch performance across our own orders
Inspection performed by our sourcing partners.
Emporra does not operate an in-house test lab. Inspection is performed before shipment by our sourcing and inspection partners, whose processes and certifications we vet as part of onboarding.
Every part we ship is inspected before shipment to a published counterfeit-avoidance standard — IDEA-STD-1010-B or SAE AS6171 — and arrives with a written inspection report. Deeper analysis is available on request and quoted separately.
Packaging & label verification
Manufacturer marks, batch and date codes, country of origin and MSL bag/desiccant condition — checked against the manufacturer's own specification for that part.
Detailed visual under magnification
Logo integrity, no re-marking or blacktopping, no unauthorised ink dots, no rework tool marks, no flux or chemical residue.
Lead & pin condition
No re-tinning, no oxidation or corrosion, finish consistent with the date code, coplanarity within specification.
BGA & LGA condition
Ball array inspected for reballing signs, no soldering traces, no signs of prior use on the underside of the package.
Deeper analysis — on request
Where the risk warrants it and you ask for it: X-ray of internal die and bond wires, XRF for RoHS and plating verification, decapsulation and die inspection, solderability testing, and electrical or functional parameter testing against the datasheet. Quoted per line item, with a test report.
Counterfeit-risk flagging
Parts with known counterfeit exposure (older FPGAs, certain MCU families) are flagged before we quote, and we recommend enhanced inspection where the risk warrants it.
Standards we work to
Standard inspection follows IDEA-STD-1010-B or SAE AS6171, depending on the inspection partner. Where enhanced analysis is commissioned, testing follows the relevant methods in SAE AS6081 and AS6171, MIL-STD-883 and IPC J-STD-002E, and a written test report is supplied with the results.
What arrives with every shipment.
Documentation is not an upsell. It's how a sourced part earns its place in your supply chain audit.
Included by default
- Certificate of Conformance (CoC)
- Inspection report with photographs
- Traceability chain — supplier, batch, date code, country of origin
- Moisture-sensitivity level and packaging notes
Available on request — quoted separately
- X-ray inspection images
- XRF / RoHS and plating analysis
- Decapsulation and die inspection images
- Solderability test results
- Electrical or functional parameter test report
Not every part needs a decap. Some absolutely do.
We classify risk per line item. The higher the risk, the deeper the inspection — and the earlier we tell you if we recommend escalating.
High-value parts
Where the cost of a bad batch exceeds the cost of enhanced testing.
Long or opaque supply chains
Obsolete parts sourced through more than one intermediary before reaching us.
Known counterfeit exposure
Older Xilinx and Altera FPGAs, certain Microchip and analog IC families, sought-after power devices.
Safety-critical end-use
Medical devices, aerospace, defence, rail signalling, industrial control.
If a part fails inspection
Parts that fail inspection before shipment are not shipped to you — we look for another source or cancel the line. Please inspect goods on receipt; any complaint is handled under our terms of sale.
Single Danish counterparty — Emporra ApS contracts with you and invoices you directly.
Straight answers on where our model ends.
- —We are not an authorised distributor. We are a broker that sources through a vetted global supplier network.
- —We do not operate an in-house test lab. Inspection is performed by our sourcing and inspection partners. Standard inspection to IDEA-STD-1010-B or SAE AS6171 is included; anything deeper is a separate, quoted service — we will tell you when we think a part needs it.
- —We do not promise specific lead times. Obsolete parts are found when they are found — we tell you what we see, honestly.
